Our Learning Ethos
As 75% of the brain is developed by the age of 6 years, our philosophy is that most learning should be done as early as possible before this age, and should be done through play to enhance development, recognising that each child is an individual with different strengths and weaknesses. So, it is important to follow the child as well.
Our ethos at Bright Buttons is to provide an excellent learning experience of a high standard for all to learn in a safe, secure fun and loving environment. We aim to provide this safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where children can enjoy learning through play. We like to foster a love of learning within a structured, broad and balanced curriculum. We provide high standards of teaching to develop and deepen knowledge and the love of it. It is also important to us to develop the self-esteem of each child, so that each child has a positive belief in their individual abilities and potential. We also aim to nurture diversity and individuality in each child, emphasizing and utilising their individual God-given talents.
We aim to ensure that the transition from home or another school to Bright Buttons is a smooth and an easy one, resulting in a happy child.
We aim to develop life skills by encouraging a sense of curiosity, open-mindedness, consideration for others, perseverance and determination.
We aim to provide a high-quality teaching and learning experience which will enable every child to become happy and confident, while recognising that each child will develop at his or her own pace and in their own way physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally.
At the core of our learning ethos is to shower them with love, enjoy every moment by having lots of fun and follow the child. He/she will lead the way.
Learning can only take place in a safe, secure happy environment where a child feels loved. Before any teaching can take place, a child is shown love and kindness through words and actions. It is important for a child to have a good self-esteem, so much positive reinforcement is used. Positive words and music play a big part in the Bright Buttons programme. A lot of learning takes place through songs and rhymes. Bright Buttons also believes in kinesthetic learning as children are active and love movement.
Our motto is love, laugh, learn. This stems from the fact that in order for learning to take place, there needs to be lots of love and laughter. Bright Buttons provides this warm, loving, fun environment. The school was been described as a calm happy school by prospective parents.
We believe that children’s abilities are underestimated and that children have an inherent desire to learn. Knowing this, a 3-year programme has been developed with various themes and concepts for children to learn. They have such fun learning, with the songs, books, sensory play, outings and baker day all relating to the themes and concepts being taught at the time. The reason for this is that children learn through repetition and role play, so the more a concept is reinforced the more likely they are to learn it.
